Grey box and SA blue gum woodland

The grey box and SA blue gum woodland occupied the footslopes bordered to the north by the Torrens River catchment and to First Creek of the Torrens to the south. It covered around 50% of the cities of Campbelltown, almost the entirety of Norwood, Payneham, and St. Peters, and the northern portion of Burnside to the south. The natural border running along the northeast is the red and SA blue gum woodland occupying the Torrens river catchment. The southern border is the beginning of the Black Forest, a woodland dominated by grey box and river red gum.

The research carried out by Darrell Darrell Kraehenbuehl in the 1996 publication: Pre-European vegetation of Adelaide : a survey from the Gawler River to Hallett Cove identifies plants which were also prevalent in the grey box and SA blue gum woodland.
